Bought something that is broken, faulty, or not as described? Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have strong legal rights when goods are not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described. Your rights depend on when you bought the item, where you bought it, and how you paid. Within the first 30 days you have a short term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund. Between 30 days and 6 months the retailer must prove the goods were not faulty when sold.
After 6 months the burden shifts to you to prove the fault was present at the time of purchase. If you paid by credit card, you may also have protection under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
